MUSIC ACTIVITIES CLASS FOR SENIORS
Purposes:
• Providing an opportunity for seniors to make friends with others and have physical exercises through musical movement
Instructor Background:
Julia Cheung holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in piano performance from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is designated as a Fellow of The Trinity College of Music, England and she also holds a Licentiate in Piano Performance certificate from The Royal Schools of Music, England.
Ms. Cheung was an active pianist and accompanist before her emigration to Canada and has spent many years as a music educator and administrator. In Canada, Ms. Cheung has taken the Bachelor of Music Therapy Program and the Kodaly Musicianship Program and has worked in the community, schools, hospitals and care centres. She specializes in music education for children and has developed the Music & Kids program that was introduced in schools and community centres.
Ms. Cheung is currently a member of the College of Examiners of The RCM Examinations. She holds memberships in the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers’ Association, and the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association.
